AUR President George Simion announced on Tuesday that AUR, S.O.S. Romania, POT MPs submit to the Chamber of Deputies a motion of censure against the Ciolacu Government, entitled “Prime Minister NORDIS must go, Romanians are fed up with humiliation”.

The motion is signed by AUR, S.O.S. Romania, POT, non-affiliated MPs and one from the minorities, George Simion declared during a press conference held at the Parliament.

“We are determined to discuss with each MP, and we appeal to Romanians to ask their MPs to show up to vote for the motion and vote against Prime Minister Nordis. I know that there are also dissatisfied people in the PSD and the PNL. Now is a good time to stand with the Romanian people,” he said.

The AUR president also launched an attack on the USR.

“If USR does not vote for this motion, it shows that it is also in Nordis’ pocket. Let’s see the reason why USR leaders refuse to sign the motion. Maybe because they are also involved in the Nordis scandal? Let’s see once and for all where USR is, in Marcel Ciolacu’s pocket or on the side of those who want to oust Ciolacu?“, he said.

In response, in an intervention on Digi24, the leader of USR deputies Ionuţ Moşteanu declared that George Simion is the one who received votes from PSD in the November elections and that he cannot accuse USR “of holding Ciolacu in his arms”.

“I hear Simion accusing us of holding Ciolacu in his arms. If they had been in opposition to PSD for as long as USR was in opposition to PSD and Ciolacu, they could have commented. But, until one more thing, Simion is the one who received votes from the PSD in November. Simion is the one who has hills all over the country through local councilors and in Bucharest and many cities for deputy mayors with the PSD and majorities with the PSD. This is the reality, these, the facts”, said Moșteanu.

He claims that Marcel Ciolacu must go home, but it must be clear what comes after this government falls. We have said many times that Marcel Ciolacu must go, that he is in free fall, he is discrediting everyone. This is a reality, but there are still two or so months until the presidential elections. We have an interim president. If it is not clear what comes next the day after the Ciolacu government falls, we cannot vote because we have a responsibility towards the millions of Romanians who mind their own business, pay their taxes, work, take the companies they manage forward and produce value in this country. “Or we can’t throw the country into chaos just because we don’t like Marcel Ciolacu,” he said.

Ionuț Moșteanu accuses Simion of having an understanding with Ciolacu.Beyond all these pompous declarations, Simion and Ciolacu have an understanding between them. Because Simion is now firing a bullet into the air, the bullet of the censure motion. A bullet fired into the air at this moment by Simion and he can’t fire another one, a figurative bullet, of course, until September. In fact, Simion is helping Marcel Ciolacu’s friend again, they help each other when they need each other, you saw how he helped him in November,” Moșteanu argued.

The filing of the censure motion was announced by S.O.S. Romania last week, but the move was postponed. The leader of the AUR senators, Petrișor Peiu, declared at the time that 154 signatures had been collected for its submission, but the signatures of the USR parliamentarians are expected by Wednesday, February 26. The USR announced, however, that the party’s parliamentarians would not sign a censure motion with the “isolationists”.
