Botosani PSD mayor investigated for corruption
Anti-corruption prosecutors searched the Botoșani City Hall on Friday morning, informs Digi24. The investigators also controlled the office of mayor Cosmin Andrei and took him to hearings. Cosmin Andrei is accused of arranging an employment contest at the town hall in 2021 and was placed under judicial control for 60 days.
The National Anti-corruption Directotate placed the mayor Cosmin Andrei under judicial control for 60 days, for committing the crime of using, in any way, directly or indirectly, information that is not intended for advertising or allowing unauthorized persons access to this information, in the purpose of obtaining money, goods, or other undue benefits for oneself or for another, according to a DNA press release. According to the prosecutors, “on August 25, 2021, the defendant Andrei Cosmin-Ionuţ, as the mayor of the Botoşani municipality, would have delivered the list of subjects proposed by the members of the commission to a candidate for the position of “advisor class I, higher professional degree » put out to competition by the institution he was leading. As a result of these steps, on August 26, 2021, the person in question would have promoted the competition and would have fraudulently occupied the respective post”.
