The general mayor, Nicușor Dan, accuses the Ciolacu Government of wanting to take about 620 million lei (around EUR 125 million) from the budget of the Capital City Hall in 2024 through the allocations made in the draft budget.

The general mayor says that there is a disproportion between the money allocated to the District Town Halls and the money allocated to the Capital City Hall, although the municipality has much more attributions, only subsidies for heating and public transport being 3.5 billion lei. We want to buy electric buses, trams, we want to modernize tram lines, to modernize the heating network, that means big infrastructure works, or we want to have a Bucharest full of pansies and curbs,” said the general mayor, on Friday, in – a press conference held at the Capital City Hall.

I draw attention to a serious fact related to the national budget, i.e. an allocation for the municipality of Bucharest with 620 million lei less than the allocation in 2023. 620 million lei means 60 new trams or 100 electric buses or the European funds for the sewage treatment plant at Clay. We worked for three years to save this European money and now the Government comes and takes it. Speaking of the trick that is destroying Romania”, said Nicușor Dan.

45-50 kilometers of heating network were rehabilitated in 2023

The general mayor of the Capital, Nicusor Dan, also informed on Friday that this year 45-50 kilometers of the heating network were rehabilitated, of which 10-15 kilometers through European funds.

“Based on European funds, we are between 10-15 of the main network, and in total between 45-50. We will have all the data in the first days of 2024. For 2024, I am much more optimistic, because for many of the sections that have started with European funds, many design, bureaucratic, or property obstacles were overcome that could not have been foreseen at that time“, declared the general mayor.
