The vote on Wednesday in the Chamber of Deputies on the simple motion against Justice Minister Tudorel Toader and against PSD-ALDE coalition, titled ‘Take your dirty hands off Justice!’, initiated by USR and PNL, has been postponed. The social-democrat Deputies were absent.
PSD Deputy Florin Iordache criticized Toader on Tuesday, dissatisfied that the minister has delayed the emergency ordinance on amending the Criminal Codes and to review the sentences issued by the Supreme Court 5-judge panels. Iordache said when you are wrong, in PSD, you resign or you are reshuffled.
ALDE in turn said it would not attend the vote, digi24.ro reports.
UDMR leader Kelemen Hunor said Tuesday evening, for TVR 1 public television, that the Hungarian minority’s Deputies will not support Tudorel Toader at the vote on the simple motion.
The PSD MPs were absent on Wednesday and the quorum was not met, with the sitting postponed. The vote will be resumed, most likely, next week, the same source informs.
PSD Deputy Eugen Nicolicea said the vote will be rescheduled ‘next week, at the first sitting’, with the social-democrats maintaining the decision not to attend the procedures, ziare.com informs.
Simple motions are adopted with the vote of the majority of those attending the sitting. If adopted, the simple motion is a warning and does not automatically lead to the minister’s dismissal. The Prime Minister is to make a decision.
Tudorel Toader, supported for the Justice Minister position by ALDE, refused to resign, despite the protests staged by the magistrates and by the civil society. “I have done my job in good faith,” he said.
Liviu Dragnea says will discuss with Tariceanu and PM Dancila
After the postponement, PSD leader Liviu Dragnea told the journalists that his party could not vote in favour of the simple motion ‘as it is full of lies’, however he has suggested he is dissatisfied by Tudorel Toader. A decision on him will be made after discussions with ALDE leader Calin Popescu Tariceanu and Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, more likely will take place ‘on Friday or Monday’, ziare.com informs.
Deputy Catalin Radulescu: The coalition will decide
PSD Deputy Catalin Radulescu said on Wednesday that the social-democrats will not vote in favour of the simple motion and that PSD and ALDE will make a decision on Toader.
Radulescu said he is discontent with the fact that the Justice Minister failed to issue several ordinances on Criminal Codes and on the review of final rulings, adding that Tudorel Toader had no consultations with the magistrates on GEO 7.
The decision on Toader will be made by PSD leader Liviu Dragnea and ALDE chairman Calin Popescu Tariceanu, he added.
