Chamber speaker Dragnea pays visit to Switzerland on the day when a verdict is expected in his fictitious hiring file
Chamber of Deputies speaker Liviu Dragnea will pay an official visit to Bern in Switzerland during May 29-31, within an event of the National Council of the Swiss Confederation. Dragnea has the last hearing in the file on the fictitious hiring at Teleorman Child Protection Direction precisely on May 29. Judges are expected to give the verdict after the anti-corruption prosecutors have asked that Dragnea should be sentenced to seven years and a half in prison.
According to the visiting programme Okayed by the Chamber of Deputies standing bureau, Dragnea will meet the president of Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset and the chairman of the National Council Dominique de Buman.
The topics of discussion will tackle the future contribution of Switzerland to the EU Cohesion fund, bilateral economic ties and the priorities Romania when in takes over the Presidency of the EU Council.
The anti-corruption prosecutors have asked during the last court hearing in the fictitious hiring file on Tuesday that PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea should be sentenced to seven years and six months in prison for abetting in abuse of office. Prosecutors have also called on the judge to cancel the suspension of the sentence ruled against the SocDem leader in the Referendum file, where he had been sentenced to two years on probation.
