Commissioner for Regional Policy: Romania will get 8pc more money on the cohesion policy during 2021-2027

Romania will receive on the cohesion policy, upon the European Commission’s proposal, EUR 31 billion during 2021-2027, 8 per cent more as against the 2014-2020 period, the European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Cretu, posted on her Facebook account on Tuesday.

In May 2018, the Commission managed to send the European Parliament and Council-as co-legislators- an ambitious and flexible formula where the cohesion policy has the highest allotment , EUR 373 billion for the period after 2020. Romania, next to Bulgaria, Greece, Spain, Italy and Finland- will have higher allotments as against the current programming period. I really hope an Agreement is reached on the 2021-2017 Multi Annual Financial Framework during the Romanian Presidency of the EU Council, for, upon the Commission’s proposal, Romania has an allotment on the cohesion policy (so, without agriculture) of EUR 31 billion, which means 8 per cent more as against the period 2014-2020. Therefore, we all hope the budget is adopted during the Romanian Presidency, so that the money of this budget should be used by the member stated right as of January 1, 2019, for quality projects that would efficiently use the European funds in order to cut the disparities and inequities on the European continent to to inmprove people’s life,” Cretu posted.
