Constantin Dudu Ionescu – State Councillor with the Presidential Administration

President Klaus Iohannis appointed Constantin Dudu Ionescu, former Minister of Internal Affairs during the Democratic Convention, as State Councillor with the Presidential Administration. The information was confirmed on Tuesday for HotNews by Constantin Dudu Ionescu.

As a State Councillor, Constantin Dudu Ionescu will be director of the Office of Integrated Intelligence with the Department of National Security at Cotroceni.

On the other hand, President Iohannis singed the retirement decree for General Ion Opri?or, presidential adviser on national security issues.

Constantin Dudu Ionescu, 58, graduated from the Faculty of Aircraft with the Polytechnic University of Bucharest. He began his career as an engineer and was a researcher with the Centre for Aviation Engines Bucharest.

He was deputy on behalf of PNTCD during 1992-1996, then Secretary of State with the Defence Ministry in the CDR Government, then Minister of the Interior.

Dudu Ionescu was for several years general manager of the Romania branch of Elbit Systems of Israel holding. According to sources, he cut the relationship with Elbit Systems in 2010.
