Daniel Constantin has blocked the ALDE accounts
ALDE Co-Chair Daniel Constantin has blocked the party’s accounts after the party leadership decided to withdraw political support and he was dismissed from the government. The money will not be available until the situation of the party is clarified in court, digi24.ro and news.ro inform.
According to ALDE sources, Daniel Constantin notified the bank where the party has opened accounts, saying that there is a lawsuit pending, and the bank representatives have decided that, until the situation is clarified, the amounts cannot be accessed by anyone in the party.
“Yes, I confirm that currently the accounts cannot be used until legal clarification in court,” Daniel Constantin said for news.ro.
Daniel Constantin has appealed to the Bucharest Court the ALDE Standing Delegation decision to organise the Congress in April.
“It is a deadlock until it legal clarification. Next week the first hearings in court will take place. If we win, then the congress is suspended and the accounts remain blocked. If we do not win, they will organize the congress, but after the congress will go to court to record the new status and the new leadership. They will not be validated because a lawsuit is ongoing,” ALDE sources close to Daniel Constantin said.
The court will decide next week on the complaint filed by Daniel Constantin against the decision of the Standing Delegation. Also next week, the judges will decide whether or not to suspend the decision to organize the Congress.
“The account will be blocked for several months and the functioning of the party as well,” the sources said.
ALDE’s bank accounts are fuelled monthly by the subsidy granted by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) for parliamentary parties, as well as by membership fees and donations from individuals and businesses. In March, AEP has transferred to ALDE the amount of RON 268,547, while in January and February the amount was of RON 82,000 each month.
The ALDE Standing Delegation decided on March 19 to convene the Party congress on April 21, where the new leadership of the party will be elected. Daniel Constantin claimed the Standing Delegation was convened non-statutory and announced that he would challenge in court the decision to convene the Congress.
Daniel Constantin was removed from the position of Minister of Environment and of deputy PM. The decision was taken by the ruling coalition following ALDE decision to withdraw the political support to the co-chairman of the party.
