Defence Minister Mircea Dusa and US Ambassador Hans Klemm have flown aboard F16 planes with dual command on Friday, at the 71st Air Base Campia Turzii, in the Romanian-American military drill ‘Dacian Viper 2015’.
The spokesman of the 71st Air Base Campia Turzii, Major George Moldovan, said on Friday that the F16 planes with the two officials were flown by American pilots.
“Defence Minister Mircea Dusa and the US Ambassador Hans Klemm have flown aboard two F16 planes with dual command, piloted by American pilots, part of the bilateral military exercise ‘Dacian Viper 2015’, held during October 12-23 at the 71st Air Base Campia Turzii. The flights were carried out exactly according to the exercise and lasted about 40 minutes,” Moldovan said.
Defence Minister Mircea Dusa, dressed in a flight suit, climbed into the F16 plane piloted by Lieutenant-Colonel Mike McGinn. “I have emotions, I’ve flown before,” said Dusa.
In turn, US Ambassador Hans Klemm flew aboard the plane piloted by Colonel Clarence ‘Ski’ Borowski.
250 Romanian troops, six MIG 21 LanceR aircraft, three helicopters IAR 330 SOCAT and MEDEVAC and 200 American troops with the Alabama National Air Guard, and eight F16 aircraft take part to the exercise ‘Dacian Viper 2015’.
During the exercise Defence Minister Mircea Dusa will meet with NATO Deputy Secretary General, Ambassador Alexander Vershbow.
