Dispute within USR: Clotilde Armand’s husband attacks the head coordinator of the party’s election campaign. Nicusor Dan: Untrue statements

Sergiu Moroianu, the husband of Clotilde Armand (photo – Vice-president of Save Romania Union – USR) has launched tough attacks against Matei Paun, head coordinator of USR’s election campaign, saying he is a ‘controversial character’ who is not known where he worked before and accuses him of defamation and sabotage against Armand, hotnews.ro informs.

Moroianu claims Paun is guilty for associating USR’s name with ‘the LGBT activists’ and calls for explanations from the party’s national bureau. He also states that the party has obtained worse results in local elections that PPDD in 2012, a ‘party in a flat’.

“We don’t know where he worked before, for whom, what wealth he has or what sources of income, not even his citizenship. Paun is supported in USR by Roxana Wring, close to the NGOs of the Soros network, the one who brought in also Politeanu. During the election campaign Paun started a defamation and sabotage campaign against Clotidle Armand, the main vector in the territory. He contacted the branches asking them not to invite Clotilde. The USR money was foolishly spent on over-evaluated opinion polls and on ‘consultancy’ without tenders or transparency, including on Paun’s consistent wage, a man with no qualification in running a political campaign for an honest party. (…) Paun has associated the USR image with LGBT activists and with Soros, attempting to exculpate Soros instead of dissociating from him, an attempt that has led PSD to 50% and USR below 10%,” Moroianu said.

Matei Paun did not comment, saying for hotnews.ro that these are ‘lies’.

Moroianu was one of Nicusor Dan’s supporters during the election campaign for the Bucharest city hall and is member of the party’s arbitration panel. He is also member of the National Council for Attesting Titles, Diplomas and Certificates (CNATDCU) mathematics committee.

USR leader Nicusor Dan has answered on Facebook, saying such statements make him sad and stun him.

Nicusor Dan and Sergiu Moroianu are friends since studentship, the two, along with Clotilde Armand being the nucleus that established USB, later transformed in USR, digi24.ro informs.

“Matei Paun was a volunteer, sacrificing his time and asking for nothing in exchange, during the election campaign for local elections as well as for general elections. He acted on the basis of a mandate handed by the national bureau. During the election campaign he had my support and the national bureau’s support. I am saddened and stunned that Sergiu Moroianu has launched untrue statements, many of them similar to the ones coming from the USR’s political foes,” Nicusor Dan wrote on his Facebook page.
