Donald Trump signed dozens of executive orders hours after becoming president of the United States. The orders include reversing Joe Biden’s policies, immigration, and withdrawing the US from the Paris climate agreement and the World Health Organization. He also pardoned about 1,600 people accused of attacking the Capitol on January 6, 2021, CNN reports.

Trump announced pardons for most individuals charged in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, covering about 1,500 people with “full pardons.” He commuted sentences for Proud Boys and Oath Keepers leaders convicted of conspiracy. Trump signed an executive action extending the deadline for TikTok’s parent company to find a new owner or face a U.S. ban. He also repealed 78 Biden-era executive orders, including those on sexual discrimination bans, transgender military service, and renewable energy policies.

The federal government will now recognize only two genders, male and female, reversing Biden’s gender identity efforts. Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border, deploying Pentagon resources for wall construction and ending a migrant entry app. He signed an order redefining birthright citizenship and withdrew the U.S. from the WHO, citing “unfair financial demands.”

Trump froze federal hiring and established a new Department of Government Efficiency. He ordered landmark renamings, such as Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America,” and reversed the Paris Climate Accord commitments. Declaring an “energy national emergency,” he proposed expanding oil production and ending Biden’s EV mandates.

Trump declared a national emergency on the southern border, triggering the use of Pentagon resources and personnel to be deployed and used to build the border wall. His administration also ended the use of an app that allows migrants to notify U.S. Customs and Border Protection that they intend to enter the United States.

Trump also signed an order that seeks to redefine citizenship by birth. Trump announced that he was withdrawing the U.S. from the World Health Organization. His order says that the WHO “continues to demand unfairly onerous payments” from the U.S. Trump signed an action that enacts a hiring freeze for federal government employees through the executive branch.

Trump also formally established the new Department of Government Efficiency as an entity within the federal government through an executive action. Trump has taken executive action on the naming of U.S. landmarks—including renaming Denali and the Gulf of Mexico—a move the White House said would “honor American greatness.”

The order specifically calls for renaming the nation’s highest peak, Mount McKinley in Alaska, which then-President Barack Obama renamed Denali in 2015, a nod to the region’s native people. Trump signed an act that again withdraws the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement, a global agreement to reduce emissions.

In his inaugural address, Trump said he would declare a “national energy emergency,” even though the United States now produces more oil than any other country at any time. According to a list of priorities from Trump’s press office, he intends to streamline permits and overhaul regulations that “impose undue burdens on the production and use of energy, including the mining and processing of non-fuel minerals.” He also plans to take steps to end land and water leasing for wind energy and reverse the Biden administration’s actions promoting electric vehicles.
