PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea is preparing the new Government, political sources claim. Dragnea is said to have already made the list of the future ministers. First central bank governor Florin Georgescu is proposed for the PM position.

According to sources quoted by Mediafax, Liviu Dragnea met several party members on Monday night to draft the list. His strategy would be to ask for the National Executive Committee’s support for every minister.

If the non-confidence vote passes, some former ministers from Grindeanu Cabinet will keep their portfolios, such as Sevil Shhaideh, Carmen Dan, Lia Olguţa Vasilescu, Mihai Tudose and Rovana Plumb.

ALDE is to also keep its current ministries, likewise independent Tudorel Toader will continue as Justice minister.

The Finances ministry is to be given to Eugen Teodorovici, who held this portfolio in the past, too. Teodorovici, known as close to former PM Victor Ponta, voiced support for the motion of censure on Monday, arguing that “politics is not based on friendships”.

Diplomat Sorin Ducaru, currently deputy secretary general for Security Challenges within NATO is to take over the Defense portfolio.

OMV general manager, Mariana Gheorghe, PSD MEP Sorin Moisă, diplomat Simona Miculescu, Romania’s representative to the UN and Nicolae Istudor, rector of the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, are other names rumored for the new Executive.
