Stella Ronner-Grubacic, the Dutch ambassador to Bucharest, said Monday at a conference in Parliament on civil marriage, that her country has made a commitment to promoting LGBT rights and that it is ‘extremely important’ for couples of the same sex to adopt a common name.
“More important than the symbolic use of the same name, is that the marriage or civil partnership allow couples to have the same rights on taxation, inheritance, pensions and family law,” said the ambassador, realitatea.net informs.
The diplomat said that her country has made a priority in protecting human rights both in the Netherlands and in other countries. “Therefore I support organisations that encourage debates and education about LGBT issues and the fight against any crime on this issue,” the ambassador said.
