The European Commission unblocked the Sectoral Operational Programme Human Resources Development (POSDRU 2007-2013) worth EUR 167 million after the payment had been cut off in February 2016.
The announcement has been made by Michel Servoz, Director DG Employment Social Affairs Inclusion within the EC in a meeting with the Romanian Minister of European Funds, Cristian Ghinea, the Ministry of European Funds informed in a press release.
“Resuming payments is a very good news. EUR 167 million are to immediately enter the country. More good news will follow, as the process has been unblocked. We try to bring more and more EU funds, so necessary for Romania’s development,” minister Ghinea stated.
POSDRU Management Authority with the Ministry of European Funds sent one more tranche of EUR 372 million last week.
“We estimate that the total amount of EUR 539.4 million will return to the state budget by the end of this year, which means an about 10 percent increase of the absorption rate on POSDRU programme overall,” the Ministry added.
