The leader of the EPP Group, Manfred Weber, upon the proposal of the Romanian delegation, requested on Monday that Prime Minister Victor Ponta’s situation to be discussed in the European Parliament, while EP President Martin Schulz proposed that the matter be discussed in the LIBE committee.
“The situation in Romania is worrying. It is unacceptable that PSD wants to block investigations. The National Anticorruption Directorate should be allowed to bring light on serious allegations against Ponta,” said Manfred Weber.
European Parliament President Martin Schulz, proposed that the matter be discussed in the specialized committee (Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs) and by the Conference of Parliamentary Group Leaders, before being discussed in the plenum of the parliament.
