The Government seemed to loosen up regarding the official residence of the former president Traian Basescu, by even offering him a temporary house to live in until his official residence gets renovated.

The move comes actually because the former head of state is still residing at Villa Lac 3, where the incumbent president Klaus Iohannis has to move in.

The Government gave Basescu a villa in Primaverii district as an official residence, whom he is entitled as former Romania’ president by law. The Primaverii residence belonged to another former official, ex-premier Petre Roman and his family.

The building needs revamping works, as nobody invested in its maintenance for many years.

Traian Basescu had 60 days to move out from Villa Lac 3, with February 21 as deadline.
