Ex-top PSD leader, Adrian Tutuianu joins Ponta’s Pro Romania Party

Former Social Democrat Defense minister, former PSD top leader and senator Adrian Tutuianu has announced in a press conference in Bacau that he had joined Pro Romania, the party set up by former PM Victor Ponta.

The senator, who has been ousted from PSD last year, explained he had decided to join Pro Romania for it is an alternative to PSD and people who had collaborated well over the past years are part of this party.

“I came to Pro Romania for two reasons. First for I had, as leader of party branch, but also as president of county council, an excellent relation with Victor Ponta (…) At the same time, there are people with whom I have worked. Nicu Banicioiu and Daniel Constantin were a real help for me,” Tutuianu said, adding that the second reason is that Pro Romania is an alternative to PSD.

Adrian Tutuianu has been ousted from the ruling Social Democrat party in November 2018 over a conflict with the party chairman Liviu Dragnea and other leaders supporting Dragnea.

After his ousting in November, Adrian Tutuianu used to say the decision proves that the party is sanctioning the freedom of speech.

“I have voiced out inside the party. I haven’t seen someone being convicted for a man is recorded in PSD by people who are interested in ruining things in an organization. I have never intended to hide things that are not going well. I think the party is going into a wrong direction“, Tutuianu said back then.

Tutuianu also said that the Social Democrats who previously signed the letter asking for Dragnea’s resignation would be all expelled from the party, one by one. In his view, the method of recording the party members and then of executing them will make history within PSD and maybe in other parties, too.
