The Chamber of Deputies Standing Bureau has decided on Wednesday to summon an extraordinary session during July 2-19.

PSD leader, Liviu Dragnea, announced a few days ago that an extraordinary Parliamentary session will be summoned to complete the amendments to the Criminal Codes. The Administrative Code, a draft bill with controversial provisions, might also be adopted during the extraordinary session.

“I said it and I am saying it again, the procedures must be accelerated, there are delays. We will summon an extraordinary session, nevertheless we cannot have an extraordinary session all summer long. So, I will ask today, with Mr. Tariceanu, we shall ask the special parliamentary committee (so-called Iordache committee – our note) to conclude the Criminal Code and get to the final vote, so that the bill goes on the usual path,” the PSD leader said last Friday.

By regulation, the Chamber of Deputies is summoned in extraordinary sessions upon the request of the President of Romania, of the Standing Bureau or of at least one third of the Deputies.
