FM Melescanu – US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson phone conversation on regional developments, bilateral cooperation

Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu had on Tuesday a phone conversation with the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson about several topics of the strategic partnership, the Foreign Ministry (MAE) informs.
The talks reviewed the current bilateral relations and the regional developments. The importance of the strategic partnership was reiterated, as well as the objective to develop and stimulate the cooperation within.
FM Melescanu expressed satisfaction on the outstanding level of bilateral cooperation in the field of security and defence, underlining the importance of the US and allied presence in Romania and in the region, and in the steps taken by the governments and the business environment to develop the economic dimension of the bilateral relationship. The foreign minister recalled that this year the two states celebrate 20 years since the launching of the Strategic Partnership.
The phone conversation has taken place in the context of the dialogue with the new US Administration, MAE informs.
