The Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) regrets the incidents on Sunday generated by the violation of the Spanish constitutional order and reaffirms Romania’s strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country, a communiqué released by the ministry reads.
The MAE shows that Spain is “an important ally and strategic partner of our country, a relationship reflected both bilaterally and within the EU and at international level.”
The Romanian Foreign Ministry also emphasizes that “the legitimacy of any demarche or any action pertaining to the internal order of a state should be in full compliance with the constitution, i.e. with the rule of law in that State.”
In this context, the MAE reiterates Romania’s “consistent position in favour of the observance of the international law, which does not allow territorial changes to be made without the consent of the state involved.”
