Former MEP Adrian Severin: Victor Ponta’s removal was the result of a coup d’état
Adrian Severin has posted on Facebook, a message that emphasizes the idea of a coup d’état, enforcing Victor Ponta’s removal from power, and the fall of the government.
Adrian Severin, indicted by DNA for bribe taking and influence peddling and prosecuted in another file for money laundering, says Romania’s biggest problem is the replacement of democracy with a new form of dictatorship.
“We’ve returned to the Carlist dictatorship. Romania’s problem in 2015 is not the removal of Victor Ponta or the fall of Ponta Government, but how this was made – by a coup d’état – and especially what has followed – the replacement by oligarchy (called technocracy) and by dictatorship. We’ve returned to the Carlist dictatorship in 1938. One escapes this only through revolution or war.”
Adrian Severin believes that “the concrete data of this repetition confirm the old saying that repeated histories are tragedies at first and then pranks. Indeed, the characters of 1938-1940 – King Carol II, Armand Calinescu, Corneliu Zelea Codreanu, General Ion Antonescu – beyond their merits and their sins, were tragic characters.
The characters of 2014-2016 – Klaus Iohannis, Dacian Cioloş, Gigi Becali, Gabriel Oprea – are just some swindlers. The history of a nation doomed to be led by swindlers always ends tragically,” the former PSD MEP wrote.
In 2011, then PSD MEP, Adrian Severin was accused of receiving money from undercover journalists. Sunday Times reporters had tape-recorded a discussion in Adrian Severin’s office in Strasbourg, in which he spoke about the steps taken to introduce an amendment to a European directive.
