Former President Traian Basescu to join PMP ‘soon’
Former President Traian Basescu said on Sunday, in Targu-Jiu, that one of his regrets is he hasn’t “left after my mandates a political legacy, a party to represent the future for Romania.”
In these circumstances, the former head of state announced that he puts all his hopes and energy in the People’s Movement Party (PMP), a party he is going to join soon.
Basescu attended on Sunday the regional meeting of the PMP in south-west Oltenia, where he spoke to hundreds of delegates from Mehedinti, Olt, Gorj, Dolj and Valcea counties about the party’s goals.
The former President announced on August 22, at the end of PMP Regional Conference in Alba Iulia, that he would most likely join the PMP by autumn.
