Minister delegate for European Affairs George Ciamba is the cards to take over the position of ambassador to Greece. Ciamba has been Romania’s ambassador to Greece for 7 years in the past.

Ciamba has become minister delegate for European Affairs in November 2018, following Victor Negrescu’s resignation.

George Ciamba has been working within the Foreign Ministry since 1990. He was ambassador to Greece from 2005 to 2012 when he was appointed secretary of state for European Affairs. Previously during 2003-2005 he was secretary of state in charge of Global Affairs, and coordinated files associated to EU, NATO, Council of Europe, UN, etc.
George Ciamba was also ambassador to Turkey during 1999 and 2003, and also Romania’s permanent representative to the Economic Cooperation Organisation to the Black Sea.
