The Government is preparing an emergency ordinance to enable law amendments in case of early elections. “I don’t except PSD to raise the votes necessary for the censure motion, but better safe than sorry,” said PM Ludovic Orban.
In case the censure motion passes, the Government cannot issue GEOs on this topic anymore, as it is an interim Executive.
The emergency ordinance on issues related to early elections is settling the Permanent Electoral Bureaus, the electoral constituencies, but also other organization matters.
PM Orban explained that the current electoral legislation is not very precise on snap elections.
“We have to be ready to regulate any potential situation, I don’t expect PSD gather the necessary votes for the motion, but better to be safe than sorry. If there majority for the motion, the decision in PNL is clear, we won’t vote the inauguration of none of the two Cabinets in order to prompt early elections,” he argued.
