The government approved on Wednesday a memorandum to unlock funds amounting to RON 145.8 million blocked in the budget of the Ministry of Defence, according to article 48 of Law no.186 / 2014 (Law on State Budget for 2015). Unlocking funds will allow the continuation of the financing programme for the Romanian Air Force multi-role aircraft, the implementation of the Action Plan to increase the response capacity of the Alliance (RAP), the completing of the military base at Deveselu, as well as securing and providing the necessary conditions for continuing the exercises planned for 2015 and the enhancement of the training level of the military structures.
According to art 48 of Law no.186 / 2014, the main credit release authorities cannot allocate amounts from the budget until after approval by the Government of Memoranda on their unlocking.
The government claims that the amount of RON 145.8 million from the MoD was unlocked in order to carry out joint projects with NATO and the US.
