Few hours after choosing him for the Health portfolio, Premier-designate Dacian Cioloș decided to not include young doctor Andrei Baciu, proposed as Health minister, in his Cabinet anymore, following controversies on his nomination, official sources told local media. Thus, the new proposal for the Health portfolio is Patriciu Achimaş-Cadariu, the chief of the ‘Prof. Dr. Ion Chiricuţă’ Oncology Institute in Cluj-Napoca.
Moreover, doctors and hospital managers declared themselves confused when hearing about this nomination, arguing that Baciu has neither the training nor the necessary experience to lead a public institution such as the Health ministry, dealing with the entire medical system.
Immediately after the nomination, earlier on Sunday, Andrei Baciu was telling Mediafax that he is honored he has been nominated for the Health minister position, adding that he wanted to solve as many problems of the health system as possible and that he wished to apply everything that he has learnt abroad in Romania.
