Hoyt Yee: Romania has become a model on the fight against corruption in the region

Hoyt Brian Yee, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs said on Monday in Bucharest, that the bilateral strategic partnership is very solid and has a huge potential for development, adding that Romania has become a model on the fight against corruption in the region.
Deputy Assistant Secretary Hoyt Yee, who participated in Bucharest at the meeting the of Task Force Romania-US to implement the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership, appreciated on the occasion of celebrating 135 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, “the excellent level of political dialogue”.
According to a press release issued by the Foreign Ministry, the US diplomat said that the strategic partnership is very solid and has a huge potential for development, especially in security and economic cooperation. Hoyt Yee said that the development of the Strategic Security Partnership should be seen in the regional context, recalling the regional security risks.
Meanwhile, within the discussions on economic cooperation, Hoyt Yee spoke of significant results in the fight against corruption, saying that Romania has become a model in the region in this field.
The US ambassador to Romania, Hans Klemm, said that the objective of developing the economic dimension of the partnership is assumed by Romania at the highest level and noted that the government programme of the new cabinet creates all prerequisites for materializing it.
The fourth meeting of the Task Force for implementation of the “Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States in the 21st Century” was held on Monday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was co-chaired by State Secretary for Strategic Affairs with the Romanian Foreign Ministry Daniel Ionita and by the US Deputy Assistant Secretary Hoyt Yee.
