Hungary’ s recent conflicts with Romania and Croatia have developed because these neighbouring countries were either “dishonest” or “miscalculated their strength”, Gergely Gulyas, the deputy parliamentary speaker, told an interview to daily Magyar Idok on Thursday, as quoted by dailynewshungary.com.
Questions about ties with Romania, Gulyas said that building a fence along a section of the common border would be a “technical necessity” rather than a “symbolic act”.
“The EU’s Schengen borders must be protected and the EU politicians criticising Hungary for erecting a fence have not come up with another option either,” he said.
According to the Hungarian official, the migration crisis could put an end to “political correctness” with many western European citizens realizing that promises made by their political leaders can hardly be kept. He concluded that the crisis in Syria cannot be resolved, or would be very hard to be resolved without involving Russia.
