Mircea Geoană, NATO Deputy Secretary General, Laura Codruța Kovesi, Chief Prosecutor of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, and Emil Boc, the Mayor of Cluj, lead the trust ranking among Romanians. They are closely followed by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Senator Diana Șoșoacă, with the last three places occupied by President Klaus Iohannis, Bihor County Council President Ilie Bolojan, and USR leader Cătălin Drulă, according to a survey conducted by INSCOP at the request of news.ro.

President Klaus Iohannis, former Bucharest Mayor Gabriela Firea, and Senator Diana Șoșoacă hold the top three positions in terms of notoriety, with Șoșoacă ranking ahead of Kovesi and Geoană in this regard. The notoriety ranking is concluded by George Simion, Cătălin Drulă, and Ilie Bolojan.

INSCOP Research General Director Remus Ştefureac notes the level of trust in Diana Șoșoacă, stating that it is “beyond expectations” and attributes it to “the existence of segments of the population that resonate with ultra-radical messages, a true litmus test of a deeply dissatisfied state.”

Klaus Iohannis is the most well-known politician among the names tested, with 100% of respondents stating that they have heard of him. The head of state is followed by Gabriela Firea with a notoriety of 94.6%, Diana Șoșoacă with 93.8%, Emil Boc with 93.7%, Mircea Geoană with 92.2%, and Marcel Ciolacu with 92%. A total of 86.5% of those interviewed say they have heard of former DNA chief Laura Codruța Kovesi, 83.8% of Liberal leader Nicolae Ciucă, and 81.4% of AUR leader George Simion. USR leader Cătălin Drulă has a notoriety of 41.6%, while Ilie Bolojan has 34.3%.

Mircea Geoană tops the trust ranking with 36.3% expressing much and very much trust. The NATO Deputy Secretary General is followed by Laura Codruța Kovesi with 34.3% and Emil Boc with 32.4%. The ranking continues with Marcel Ciolacu at 25.3%, Diana Șoșoacă at 22.7%, Gabriela Firea at 21.4%, and George Simion at 20.7%. Nicolae Ciucă is trusted much and very much by 19.1% of those interviewed, while Klaus Iohannis is at 16.2%. Ilie Bolojan has a trust capital of 12.9%, and Cătălin Drulă has 6.7%.

“The trust ranking in personalities is dominated by the holders of the most important positions held by Romanian citizens internationally, Mircea Geoană, NATO Deputy Secretary General, and Laura Codruța Kovesi, Chief Prosecutor of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. The podium is completed by Cluj Mayor Emil Boc. The data draw attention to two elements: the fact that the occupants of the top three positions are not active players in national politics but excel in their fields of activity, and the level of trust in Diana Șoșoacă is beyond expectations, indicating the existence of segments of the population that resonate with ultra-radical messages, a true litmus test of a deeply dissatisfied state,” said Remus Stefureac, INSCOP Research Director.

The opinion poll was conducted by INSCOP Research at the request of News.ro. The data was collected from November 20 to 27 through the CATI method (telephone interviews) using a questionnaire.
