Interim PM voices hope on US-Romania signing the terrorism fighting agreement
In a message sent on U.S. Independence Day, interim premier Gabriel Oprea voiced his hope that an agreement between the US Government and the Romanian Government on intensifying the cooperation in the terrorism and serious crime prevention and fighting would be signed, as it is an important technical criterion for including our country in the Visa Waiver Programme.
“On behalf of Romania’s Government, I am sending the US people, on the occasion of the Independence Day of the United States of America, the warmest congratulations, accompanied by the reassertion of our commitment to the fundamental values of democracy which our countries share,” the interim PM says.
“(…) I am voicing my conviction that the tradition of Romanian-US good relations will also reflect in the signing of the Agreement between the US Government and the Romanian Government on intensifying the cooperation in the terrorism and serious crime prevention and combat — an important technical criterion for including our country in the Visa Waiver Programme,” the interim PM also poins out.
In the end, Oprea expressed hope that next year, at the 240th anniversary of the United States of America’s Independence Day, “we shall celebrate new concrete achievements of the Strategic Partnership” between the US and Romania.
