The President of the Prahova County Council (CJ), Iulian Dumitrescu, is being investigated under judicial control for committing the crimes of bribery and false statements, informs the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA). According to the anti-corruption prosecutors, he would have received over 16 million lei from a businessman, through some relatives, and the investigators also formulated accusations of forgery in the wealth declarations in his case.
“The said sums would have been mainly spent on trips abroad and luxury goods purchased outside the country, private high school, tennis lessons, rent in a luxury residential complex, etc.,” say the prosecutors.
According to Digi24 sources, the president of the Prahova County Council (CJ), Iulian Dumitrescu, spent almost 600,000 euros in a year and a half on luxury products and vacations, with Dubai, Abu Dhabi, the Maldives Islands, Capri on the list of destinations , Mykonos and Nice.
Also, 2,975,500 lei would have been spent in one year and six months on vacations and purchases of luxury products. Moreover, in August 2023, the leader’s wife would have received a watch worth 29,300 euros, which would have been paid for by her brother-in-law.
The file contains several denunciations, technical supervision mandates and environmental records.
According to a press release issued Thursday evening by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA), Iulian Dumitrescu is being investigated under judicial control for committing the crimes of bribery and false statements, after allegedly receiving over 16 million lei from a businessman who he had a contract with the Prahova County Council, and later obtained another one.
Dumitrescu’s sister is also being investigated, also under judicial control, for complicity in bribery and forgery in privately signed documents, and his brother-in-law, for complicity in bribery and forgery in statements. The public administrator of Prahova county, Vasile Anna-Maria, is also targeted in the file.
Iulian Dumitrescu announced on Thursday evening that he is resigning from all positions held in the PNL, because, he says, “the party it has nothing to do with this case.” Until now, Iulian Dumitrescu held the position of first vice-president in the National Liberal Party, as well as the head of the Prahova branch of the PNL.
