Justice Minister after CCR reasoning on Kovesi: Everyone should know his powers
Justice minister Tudorel Toader has stated in Arad on Friday that the Constitutional Court’s reasoning on the Government-Presidency conflict on the issue of DNA head Kovesi’s dismissal is explicit and represents an exercise of understanding.
„In order to be more explicit, the CCR shows the considerations of the report. It is necessary that we respect the limits and the powers granted by the Constitution and the law. I invite you to read the Court’s ruling. It is an exercise of understanding. The key of the ruling is the same, to know our powers, position and role that we have and to observe them, and to clarify the constitutional report that the Public Ministry has with the Romanian President on one hand, and with the Justice minister, on the other hand,” JusMin Toader said.
The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) has published on its website the reasoning of the ruling on a constitutional conflict between the Justice Ministry and the Presidency over dismissing the anti-corruption chief prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi. The ruling also said that President Iohannis must sign the decree to recall Kovesi from office. The reasoning is encompassed in a 133-page document and was published by the Official Journal Thursday evening.
