List of new ministers at issue

The Social Democrat Party’s Executive Committee that was supposed to Ok the list of the new ministers was delayed for tomorrow, which means that the procedure for a new Cabinet is behind. The meeting has been initially scheduled for tonight.

However, the mass media has spread some names of potential new ministers: Mihnea Costoiu-Education minister, Rovana Plumb-European Funds, Sorina Pintea or Florin Buiuc-Health Minister. Other say that Florian Bodog might stay in.

At the same time, a lot of ministers will most probably return in the new Cabinet: Teodor Melescanu (ALDE), Grațiela Gavrilescu (ALDE), Sevil Shhaideh (PSD), Marius Alexandru Dunca, Ana Birchall, Lia Olguța Vasilescu and Carmen Dan.

As for Tudorel Toader, resigning Justice minister, his faith is in limbo. Sources say that PSD tries to find a political solution for the Justice portfolio. Antena 3 claims that Mariana Mot, former judge in Olt, a person close to the chairman of party branch in Olt, might take over the Justice Ministry.

Adrian Tutuianu might take over the Defence ministry, but Mircea Dusa and Doreal Caprar are also on the short list. Eugen Teodorovici and Viorel Arcas would be proposed for the Finances portfolio.

The minister proposed for Economy could be Gheorghe Simon, while Toma Petcu might remain as Energy minister, likewise Razvan Cuc at Transports.

Doina Pana, a former minister in Ponta Cabinet, might return in the new Government as minister of Water and Forests.

Adriana Petcu is the only lady from the Grindeanu Cabinet who is not going to be part of the new gov’t.

Constantin Serban Valeca leaves the Research ministry, and might be replaced by Mihnea Costoiu.

Augustin Jianu, Grindeanu’s supporter will also leave the Gov’t and the above-mentioned sources said that young Marius Nica will take over the Communications portfolio.

Mircea Titus Dobre will stay as Tourism minister and Ana Birchall as minister delegate for European Affairs. Andreea Pastarnac could also stay as minister for Diaspora.

The situation is not so clear at the Culture Ministry, with the current minister Ionut Vulpescu being on the black list.

The list of ministers is negotiated by PSD and ALDE.
