PSD President Liviu Dragnea publicly admitted that his party has not paid the expenditures for Victor Ponta’s launching in the presidential campaign on the National Arena, more than one year ago, reports.
Following the Court of Auditors information, part of the expenses were paid by the Bucharest City Hall, ran at the time by Sorin Oprescu, while UTI company, organizer of the event, has sued PSD to recover the money invested.
“No, we haven’t paid and we are to discuss with our colleagues to raise funds in order to pay the debt related to the launching of our candidate in the presidential campaign,” Liviu Dragnea said on Monday during a press conference at the PSD offices in Bucharest.
Dragnea claimed he wasn’t aware the launching hasn’t been paid, according to Agerpres, however at the time Liviu Dragnea was PSD executive president and the organizer of Victor Ponta’s electoral campaign.
The Court of Auditors found out that the City Hall has illegally paid RON 245,346 for the event. It also revealed, after an audit, that the payment out of public funds was illegal and UTI had to cancel the invoice, to return the money and to pay penalties, the source informs.
