Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader Liviu Dragnea said that ‘the scandal’ generated by the letter issued by NN company is in fact ‘a fake’ started from the President of the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) Misu Negritoiu, and the Romanian Government should ask for explanations from the Dutch Embassy in Bucharest and from the ING heads in Romania.
Wednesday night, the Chamber of Deputies Speaker said the scandal is a fake. “It started from Mr. Misu Negritoiu, the ASF President, who knows very well that shortly the Parliament will sack the entire management of the ASF because what is happening there is very serious and the ones who suffer are the Romanian clients and the Romanians insured. I believe the Romanian Government should ask for explanations from the Dutch Embassy and the Dutch Government and the ING management in the Netherlands because what this insurance company did in Romania perhaps they could have done (…) in a former Dutch colony. Such thing is not allowed in Romania,” Dragnea told the private broadcaster Antena 3 TV.
He added that what the NN company did is ‘forbidden’ as such information could lead to the collapse of a system.
A plan to discredit the government
Dragnea said there is a plan to discredit the government, by forcing the European Commission to start the excessive deficit procedure based on forecasts.
“There is a plan to discredit the government, fuelled by rumours that the funds for the new wage law are not enough, that we won’t reach the expected economic growth and this issue, regarding the private pensions, so that the European Commission starts the excessive deficit procedure based on the forecast. Meaning, not to wait for the end of the year. It’s a complex, men and dirty plan we will fight against,” Dragnea said.
Asked who would plan such a strategy, the PSD leader claimed he does not want to launch suppositions, but added “at the highest level.”
“I convey to all those who are behind the plan, if they continue to do so, we will discuss openly. We are talking about the highest level. I don’t believe it’s about level two or three,” Dragnea said.
