Lower chamber votes higher salaries for certain public employees
Deputies have voted on Tuesday higher salaries by 20 per cent for several budgetary categories, including staff in the environment protection agencies and in the consumers’ protection.
The lower chamber of the Romanian Parliament also voted for higher wages by 25 per cent for doctors in the national defense and security system, as well as for granting scholarships to students also during vacations.
The pay rises are to be enforced as of June and refer to the staff working at the National Agency for the Environment Protection, the county agencies for environment protection and at the Danube Delta reservation Administration, as well as to the employees of the National Agency for Consumers’ Protection.
The salaries of the military doctors and the staff will be increased by 25 per cent following an amendment endorsed by all political parties- PSD, ALDE, PNL and minorities, except for the USR.
The Chamber’s plenary sitting also passed an amendment vetoed in the special committees stipulating that students will receive scholarships also during the vacation.
The draft law passed by 232 votes to 21 and one abstention.
