Marian Vanghelie remains under remand. The Supreme Court rejected his appeal
District 5 mayor Marian Vanghelie remains in custody after the Supreme Court rejected his appeal on Friday in the file where he is accused of taking bribes to favour businessman Marin Dumitru’s companies in the award of public works contracts by the District 5 City Hall.
The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ – Supreme Court) thus upheld the judge’s decision of March 14 of the Supreme Court, after which the mayor of Bucharest District 5 was placed under remand for 30 days.
In custody will be investigated also Vanghelie’s cousin, Mircea-Sorin Niculae, associate and director of several companies, as the court rejected his appeal against preventive arrest. The Supreme Court’s decision on Friday is final.
