Mutiny in PSD: 53 mayors in Timis County threaten to leave the party after the exclusion of Sorin Grindeanu. Internal draft document on criticism on the way

The turmoil within the Social-Democratic Party seems to be far from an end, after the toppling of Sorin Grindeanu cabinet by the party by censure motion on June 16. No less than 53 mayors in Timis County threaten to leave the party if Sorin Grindeanu is expelled from the party, antena3.ro informs.

PSD Timis leadership will be taken over by Petru Andea and Dorel Caprar, currently PSD Arad chairman.

On the other hand, the PSD central leadership is in turmoil, as MEP Catalin Ivan claims, on his Facebook page, he is working on an internal political project regarding criticism within the party.

“We are working on a political draft document for PSD. I believe one is not entitled to criticise without submitting a solution. We have criticised Liviu Dragnea (party chairman – our note) for his authoritarian to dictatorial leadership of the party, for the lack of vision and direction lately. Very soon we will publicly present our political project to our colleagues, PSD members. Thus we will analyse how many of our proposals are good and bad. It is important to have an internal debate – not about how to strengthen the power of one person within the party, not about how to defend some people in order to avoid being prosecuted or how to help them get richer by using public money – but about how a left-wing party, modern, clean, European, credible, should look like. Some people might ask who are we to submit such a project. All in due time,” Catalin Ivan wrote on Facebook.
