The Government has declared March 24th a national day of mourning as a sign of solidarity with the victims of the recent terror attacks in Brussels, the spokesman for the Romanian Government Dan Suciu informed on Wednesday, after the Government weekly sitting.

He explained that the flags shall be flown at half-staff, while calling broadcasters to adjust their programmes according to this decision.

It’s a sign of homage and solidarity for the inhabitants of Europe’s capital city,” Suciu added.

Brothers Khalid and Brahim El Bakrouihave been identified as the alleged kamikaze attackers in Brussels, while they are also believed to be involved in the Paris attacks last autumn.

Brahim El Bakraoui detonated himself on the airport of Zaventem, where at least 11 people died and over 100 were wounded. His brother Khalid, would have committed the suicide attack at Maalbeek subway station, where at least 20 people died.

A third attacker is still at large, after media wrongfully reported that he had been captured and arrested.

On Wednesday, the EC vice-president Kristalina Gheorghieva told journalists that three members of the EC staff had been injured in the terror attacks on Tuesday.
