The annual official reception hosted by Cotroceni Palace on the occasion of Romania’s National Day due on December 1 might be cancelled this year.

Official sources revealed to local media that President Klaus Iohannis is contemplating to not organize the reception anymore. However, a final decision is not taken yet. One of the reasons is related to the ‘Colectiv’ tragedy and its effects, as well as the domestic political and social context. Moreover, another reason would be the international background after the terror attacks in Paris.

Such receptions on Romania’s National Day have been organized in the past years, with the last one taking place in 2014, at the end of Traian Basescu’s presidential term.

On the other hand, the quoted sources unveiled that President Iohannis is to attend a parade on December 1, but it is not known yet if it’s a parade in Bucharest or in other city.
