New Chinese envoy starts mission in Bucharest. China has Romania’s respect and friendship, Deputy PM Oprea says
Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister Gabriel Oprea on Tuesday said that the People’s Republic of China has Romania’s respect and friendship and voiced the conviction that the mandate of the new Chinese Ambassador in Bucharest, Xu Feihong, will further strengthen the friendship relation between the two states, Agerpres informs.
“It is an honour for me, on behalf of Romania’s Government, (…) to wish (…) Mr Ambassador Xu Feihong a successful mandate. I am convinced that the mandate of Mr Ambassador will be successful in the sense of further strengthening the traditional friendship relation between Romania and the People’s Republic of China. (…) I believe that few countries of Europe have enjoyed the friendship of the People’s Republic of China (…) for 65 years,” Oprea said, in the speech delivered at the reception organised by the Embassy of China, on the occasion of the beginning of the new Ambassador’s mission and the Chinese New Year.
He showed that the relations between Romania and China are “solid” and developed on several levels — political, economic, cultural.
In his turn, Ambassador Xu Feihong brought to mind that Romania is the third state which established diplomatic relations with China 65 years ago.
“Our traditional friendship was kept and has become increasingly more solid each day, in spite of the fast and dramatic changes of the international situation over the past few decades. We have always respected and supported each other,” the Chinese diplomat said.
He said that the Chinese-Romanian relations entered a new stage.
“The cooperation between the two states is comprehensive, on several levels and multilateral, from politics, to economy and culture. (…) As emerging economies with high potential, both China and Romania are in a critical development stage,” Xu Feihong showed.
