AUR leader George Simion leads with 30% in the latest poll released this evening by Avangarde. In second place is Crin Antonescu, followed by Nicușor Dan at just two percent. This is the second poll in the last two days that ranks the coalition candidate ahead of the mayor of the capital.
The research, self-financed, was conducted between March 19-23, 2025, using the CATI method (by telephone), and had a sample of 1,300 subjects, and the margin of error is +/-2.3%.
Crin Antonescu, the candidate supported by PSD, PNL, and UDMR, ranks second with 23%. Behind them, with 21%, is independent candidate Nicușor Dan, the Mayor of Bucharest.
Victor Ponta was chosen by 14% of the 58% of respondents who indicated a candidate, while USR leader Elena Lasconi has an 8% score.
Daniel Funeriu stands at 1%.
According to the Avangarde survey, only 45% of Romanians say they have already decided on their candidate for the first round of the presidential elections, while 54% state they are still undecided.
George Simion also leads in the AtlasIntel poll conducted for HotNews between March 13-15, with a score of 30.4%. In that scenario, he would advance to the second round with Nicușor Dan (26%), followed by Crin Antonescu (17.9%) and Victor Ponta (9%).
The CURS poll, conducted between March 19-22, also places the AUR leader in first place, with 29%. George Simion is followed by Crin Antonescu (22%), who would face him in the second round, Nicușor Dan (18%), Victor Ponta (13%), and Elena Lasconi (12%).
The Avangarde research also measured Romanians’ ideological preferences. 47% identify as centrist, 21% as right-wing, and 17% as left-wing.
Additionally, the survey shows that 36% of Romanians see themselves as more aligned with the pro-Western camp, 22% with the sovereigntists, while 38% do not identify with either side.
