Opposition to file simple motion against FM over Diaspora vote
The Opposition parties will file a simple motion at the Senate this week against Romanian FM Teodor Melescanu over the chaos in the voting for the EP elections in Diaspora, when thousands of Romanians queuing in front of the polling stations abroad failed to cast their vote.
“Teodor Melescanu, Viorica Dancila are the main responsible for the Diaspora vote. This Government must leave. The opposition will table a simple motion for we must ask Teodor Melescanu for explanations for his unacceptable performance at the past elections. The responsibility has been political, things could have been done to avoid the ordeal the Romanians living abroad were going through,” said USR senator Radu Mihail during a press conference convened by USR-PLUS Alliance.
The simple motion is to be filed on Monday.
President Klaus Iohannis has also asked for the resignation of FM Melescanu over the way European elections have been organised in Diaspora.
FM Melescanu retorted that he would not resign, while PM Dancila replied that she is not dismissing anyone until she sees a thorough analysis over the complaints.
