Adina Vălean, proposed by Orban Cabinet for the European Commissioner seat, has been heard by the joint Foreign Affairs committees in the Romanian Parliament and has received a favorable opinion.

The commissioner-designate told the MPs during hearings that she will use her expertise to support Romania.

“I have represented Romania in the European Parliament since 2007. From all the positions I held in the EP I sought to promote draft laws that should be relevant both for our country and also for the Europeans, for, we definitely represent Romania, but when we go to EP, we represent the interests of all Europeans.

I will put my entire expertise for Romania’s benefit in the coming five years. The EC programme is very ambitious, (…) and the EC President-elect proposes to respond to the citizens’ needs, starting from the effects of greenhouse gases and climate change,” Valean stated.

Adina Văleanwill be heard by the special committees of the European Parliament on November 14, during 13:00hrs and 16:00hrs.

The vote on the three European Commissioners proposed by Romania, Hungary and France is due in a plenary session scheduled on November 27.
