The PNL deputy Florin Roman accuses that he was hit with a knee in the nose, on Tuesday, in the Parliament, by the parliamentarian Dan Vîlceanu, who left the PNL in October to Forța Dreptei. Cameras shot in the Chamber plenary session show Roman holding a handkerchief to his nose. Vîlceanu appears saying that “it was not a fight” and that he was “provoked”, and the situation “became tense”.

Florin Roman wrote on Facebook that he was physically assaulted by Dan Vîlceanu, outside the plenary hall. “Today I experienced a moment that I didn’t think I would ever get through in a civilized world. I reproached the non-affiliated deputy, Dan Vilceanu, for violating the regulation by his presence in the banks of the PNL group. Your problem at Parliament was to find out how many mayors went to Călărași. A verbal altercation followed, after which I was physically pushed out of the plenary. Outside the plenary hall I was physically assaulted, again, naked, with a knee strike applied to the nose area. I avoided any retaliation, because I respect the parliamentary mandate. Instead, based on the images on the cameras, I will submit a request to sanction the unaffiliated deputy, friend of the ADU, for hitting! At the same time, I will file a criminal complaint against the hooligan deputy!”, says Florin Roman.

Deputy Dan Vîlceanu defended himself by saying that “it wasn’t a fight” and that “he just took him by the shoulders and led him out of the plenary hall” after they had an exchange of words. “I don’t want to get involved in Roman-style scandals,” said the deputy, former member of PNL, who in October left the party and joined Ludovic Orban in the formation founded by him, Forța Dreptei, for HotNews.ro.

The PNL chairman Nicolae Ciucă, also reacted on Facebook, accusing “an attack” on Florin Roman. Physical violence is unacceptable, especially as it happens here, in the Parliament Palace. We were sent here by the people to work for them and for the common good of society. We have a moral duty to set an example of decent and civilized behavior by following the rules. How can we do better for the country and for the Romanians if we cannot respect basic rules? The attack on Mr. Florin Roman shows the extent of a lack of character and moral conduct on the part of deputy Dan Vîlceanu, reprehensible and unacceptable,” wrote Ciucă.
He asks the leadership of the Chamber of Deputies “to take the necessary measures in this situation”.
Later on, the assault was captured also on the Chamber of Deputies’ video cameras.
