A new poll shows Social Democrat Marcel Ciolacu as the frontrunner in the presidential elections, leading by three points ahead of Mircea Geoană, who recently announced his independent candidacy. This marks the first time Geoană has been overtaken by the PSD leader. Nicolae Ciucă ranks only sixth in this survey, commissioned by USR. However, in the latest poll commissioned by PNL, Ciucă is projected to make it to the final round alongside Ciolacu, with Geoană trailing behind.

- Elena Lasconi – 16.3%
- George Simion – 14.9%
- Diana Șoșoacă – 12.9%

Center for International Research and Analyses Poll commissioned by PNL:
- Marcel Ciolacu: 25%
- Nicolae Ciucă: 16%
- Mircea Geoană: 14%

The poll was conducted between August 24-30 through face-to-face interviews, with a sample of 1,099 respondents. The maximum margin of error is +/- 3%.
The poll was conducted between August 15-30 using telephone interviews, with a sample of 1,793 respondents and a maximum margin of error of ± 2.38%.
