The PSD-ALDE ruling coalition has decided, during the sitting on Wednesday, to enforce the split VAT as of January 1, only for bad payers or by companies facing insolvency. For all the other companies the split VAT is optional.

According to ALDE leader Calin Popescu Tariceanu, the flat tax will be cut from 16% to 10%, however he has not specified if it would be applied to all employees.

In regard to the pension law, Tariceanu added that it will be postponed for next year, as millions of files need to be solved, ziare.com reports.

The coalition leaders have not tackled the issue of social security and health contributions transfer to the employee, the ALDE leader said. Tariceanu stressed the decision will be implemented as of January 1, mentioning that the employer will not bear any supplementary expenditures.

Referring to the justice laws, Tariceanu said the package of bills will be presented to the Judicial Committee by Justice Minister Tudorel Toader and decisions will be made on what steps will follow.

In his turn, PSD Chairman Liviu Dragnea mentioned he never said the pension law will reach parliament this year, adding that millions of files need to be recalculated “in order to solve all inequities.”

Dragnea said that when the pension law was drafted “no one knew the horrors in the pension system, we needed time to get information.”
