Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu is optimistic that the works on the Pitesti-Sibiu highway will start as of next month, on lot 1 and lot 5. He added works will start with the delayed lots in order to complete the European IV Corridor, which has European funding.

On the other hand, the Premier said in an interview for public radio that works are ongoing on the Lugoj-Deva motorway and parts of it will be inaugurated this year, however not the entire section.

In an interview for ‘Capital’, Transport Minister Razvan Cuc said the Sibiu-Pitesti highway is a priority for the government.

“In the governing programme we have taken to complete the European IV Corridor. The Sibiu-Pitesti project is included in the 2017-2020 timeframe and depends on the possible disputes. I requested to see all the problems identified on the highway sections in Romania, we are not going to announce groundless deadlines,” Minister Cuc said.

In regard to the Pitesti-Craiova section, the procedures for auction on the feasibility study have started and for the technical design. “Some 275 km of national road will be upgraded this year, along with 45 km of bypassing routes. The entrepreneurs have agreed to these deadlines, they have to meet them,” the Transport Minister said.
