PM Ponta to attend Socialist International meeting in Madrid

Romanian PM Victor Ponta will attend the Socialist International meeting due in Madrid, Spain on Saturday, official sourced told ANSA.

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, French premier Manuel Valls, EP President Martin Schultz and the EU diplomacy’s representative, Federica Mogherini, but also Pedro Sanchez, leader of the Spanish Workers Party are expected to attend the upcoming SI meeting.

Frans Timmermans, vice-president of the European Commission, German vice-chancellor Sigmar Gabriel (SPD leader), as well as Sweden and Austria’s heads of governments confirmed their attending as well.

The annual meeting, organized as usually by the Party of European Socialists (PES), will tackle an action plan for drawing a new economic policy that should find solutions for Europe’s austerity period and for Greece’s economic situation.
