Romanian prime minister Victor Ponta said he would return to Romania in maximum two weeks, adding he would come back on his feet and ‘not in an wheelchair or going on crutches’. Ponta is admitted in Medipol Turkish hospital in Istanbul where he is recovering after the left knee surgery undergone two weeks ago.
“I saw the doctor one more time yesterday and there will be two weeks when I am not allowed to put the foot down. I’ll get back home in maximum two weeks on my feet, not in an wheelchair, going on crutches or other things,” Ponta told B1TV on Sunday night.
Victor Ponta heralded since Wednesday he might come back to Romania starting July 6, earlier than the 28-day deadline initially advanced by the doctors.
Ponta nominated vice-premier Gabriel Oprea to replace him at the head of the Government, and Labour minister Rovana Plumb to take care of the party leadership.
